PackItSmart Is Now Available on Android

The packing list app with weather-based suggestions and shared trips is officially on Google Play. Here's what Android users get from day one.

Since we launched PackItSmart on iOS, the most common question we've gotten is: "When is this coming to Android?" Fair enough. Over half the world uses Android, and plenty of people have been waiting to try the app on their Samsung, Pixel, or OnePlus.

Well, the wait is over. PackItSmart is now available on Google Play, completely free. And it's not a stripped-down version — Android users get every single feature that iOS users have had since launch.

What Is PackItSmart?

If you're hearing about PackItSmart for the first time, here's the short version: it's a packing list app that actually thinks for you. You tell it where you're going and when, and it checks the weather forecast for your destination and suggests what to pack based on real conditions — not generic "summer clothes" or "winter gear" categories.

Beyond weather, it handles shared trips so you can coordinate with the people you're traveling with, works completely offline, and lets you save and reuse packing list templates so you're not starting from scratch every trip.

Every Feature, on Both Platforms

We didn't cut corners on the Android version. Here's exactly what you get:

  • Weather-based packing suggestions. Enter your destination and travel dates. PackItSmart pulls the forecast and recommends items based on actual temperature, rain, and conditions. Heading to Berlin in November? It'll suggest a warm coat, layers, and an umbrella — because it checked and knows it'll be cold and wet.
  • Shared trips with three member types. Add travel companions as app users (they see everything on their phone), web members (they get a browser link, no app needed), or offline members (for kids or anyone without a device). Everyone's packing progress stays in sync.
  • Full offline access. Everything is stored locally on your phone. No Wi-Fi at the airport? No problem. Your lists load instantly. When you're back online, it syncs automatically.
  • Reusable templates. Finished packing for a beach trip? Save it as a template. Next time you're heading to the coast, duplicate the list and tweak a few items. Two minutes instead of twenty.
  • Smart categories. Items are organized into clear groups — clothing, toiletries, electronics, documents, and more. You can add custom categories too.
  • Notifications and reminders. Set a reminder to start packing a few days before your trip. The app nudges you so you're not throwing everything in your bag at midnight.

Why We Built for Android

Honestly, it was always the plan. We started on iOS to get the core experience right — weather integration, sharing, offline sync — and make sure everything worked smoothly before expanding. But from day one, Android was on the roadmap.

A lot of our shared-trip users were already using PackItSmart through web links because the person who created the trip was on iPhone but their travel companions were on Android. They could check off items in the browser, but they couldn't create their own trips or get push notifications. Now they can.

Cross-Platform Sharing Works Seamlessly

One of the things we're most excited about: Android and iOS users can share trips with each other without any friction. Create a trip on your Pixel, invite your friend who has an iPhone — it just works. Everyone sees the same list, the same assignments, the same check-off progress in real time.

This was a big deal for us to get right. Travel groups are almost never on the same platform. Your partner might be on Samsung, your friend on iPhone, your mom on a tablet. PackItSmart doesn't care what device you're on — shared trips work across all of them.

What Android Users Are Saying

We ran a beta with a small group of Android users before the public launch, and the feedback was really encouraging:

"I've been waiting for this since my wife showed me her packing list on her iPhone. Now I can finally make my own trips instead of just checking items off through a link."
"The weather suggestions alone are worth it. I packed for a trip to Prague last week and it told me to bring thermals because it was going to drop below zero. I wouldn't have thought of that."

How to Get PackItSmart on Android

It takes about 30 seconds:

  1. Open PackItSmart on Google Play (or search "PackItSmart" in the Play Store).
  2. Tap Install — it's free, no subscription required.
  3. Open the app, create your first trip, and let the weather-based suggestions do the heavy lifting.

Already have an account from using the web version? Just sign in and all your existing trips will sync to your phone.

What's Next

Now that PackItSmart is on both major platforms, we're focused on making the core experience even better. Expect improvements to template management, smarter suggestions based on trip type, and more ways to collaborate with your travel group. We're building in the open and listening to feedback — if something's missing, let us know.

Whether you're on iPhone or Android, PackItSmart is free and ready to help you pack smarter for your next trip.
